Well don’t tell anybody, but we have one of the most envious fields in the Northeast! Situated at the Fair Haven municipal airport site, we not only have a 2000’ gravel runway, but we also have a well maintained and manicured 800’x75’ grass takeoff and landing area that is really fantastic. As you can see in the picture above taken by Steve Roberts with a camera on board a Magpie AP plane, we have lots of space all to ourselves.
2011 FIELD SCHEDULE
The field is open and available 7 days a week. Remember to yield to all other visitors and observe field and club rules. You are discouraged from flying alone as a safety precaution.
SAFETY FIRST!
The town of Fair Haven is gracious enough to allow us to fly at the now closed municipal airport. We must always remember that this is a public space and that we have to accommodate anyone who wishes to recreate there. That means that if someone walks their dog, or wants to drive up the runway with their four wheeler, we need to make sure that they pass safely. That either means landing before they approach the pit area, or it that isn’t practical, flying a high holding pattern until they pass.
DIRECTIONS
The Fair Haven Airport is located just off Exit 2 from US Route 4 in Fair Haven, Vermont. After getting off at Exit 2, head south on RT 22A, take the first left turn after passing the Mobil station and then another immediate left turn onto Airport Road. Follow Airport Road to the end, under Route 4. Drive into the airport. Just as you pass between the hanger and the pavilion, just follow the dirt road to the runway. Please wait until you get the go ahead sign from someone on the flight line before you drive to the pits. In dry weather we drive along the East side of the runway on the grass to keep the dust down. If the field is wet we drive down the runway.
